How to Add Twitch Alerts to Your Stream, Step by Step
1 min read
Twitch alerts are added through an alert tool connected to your Twitch account, such as StreamElements or Streamlabs: you upload the alert file for each event, then put the alerts link into OBS as a Browser source.
Twitch events that can have alerts
- Follows and raids: work for any channel.
- Subscriptions, gifted subscriptions and Bits: need a channel in the Affiliate or Partner program.
- Donations: through the alert tool's tip page, which is independent of Twitch.
Steps
- Sign in to the alert tool with your Twitch account.
- Open the Alert Box settings and choose the event.
- Upload the alert file (a WEBM with a transparent background) and set the duration, sound and message text.
- Repeat for each event you want an alert for.
- Copy the alerts link (Widget URL).
- In OBS: Sources → + → Browser, and paste the link at 1920×1080.
- Try it with the tool's test-alert button before you go live.
Tips for Twitch
- Flix Store alerts are delivered as a WEBM file with a transparent background, so you upload them to the alert tool as they are.
- Gifted subscriptions arrive in a row, so keep the subscription alert short or alerts will pile up.
- Make the follow alert shorter and quieter than the donation alert, since it plays more often.
- Set the alert's sound a little above the game and below your voice.
Browse Flix Store's ready-made alerts, which work on Twitch, Kick and YouTube. To pick a tool read Streamlabs or StreamElements, and for adding the source in detail read how to add an alert in OBS.
