How to Install a Loading Screen on Your FiveM Server

1 min read

A FiveM loading screen is an ordinary resource containing an HTML page, declared in fxmanifest.lua with the loadscreen line and started from server.cfg with ensure. Players see it from the moment they connect until they're in the server.

1. The resource folder

Create a folder inside resources with a clear name, such as my-loadscreen, and put index.html and the design files (images or video, and music) in it. If your design came as an image or a video, it becomes the background of index.html.

2. fxmanifest.lua

fx_version 'cerulean'
game 'gta5'

loadscreen 'index.html'

files {
    'index.html',
    'background.webm',
    'music.mp3'
}

List every file the page uses under files, or it won't reach the player.

3. Start it

Add this line to server.cfg, then restart the server and connect to test:

ensure my-loadscreen

Common problems

  • The old screen still shows: another resource with a loadscreen line is still running. Only one loading screen should be active, so stop the old one.
  • An image or sound is missing: the file isn't listed under files, or its name differs in letter case.
  • First join is slow: players download the screen's files when they connect, so keep the video and music as small as possible.

Quick questions

Can I add music? Yes. Add it in the page and list its file under files. Keep the volume moderate: it's the first thing players hear.

What do I send when ordering a loading screen? Your server name and a Discord link to reach you, and in the details, the song or images you want.
